River Grade 3+
Learn to Kayak in Nepal
Camp on remote riverside beaches
Excellant Fully qualified Instructors
Flowing from Mount Fishtail, this picturesque Lower Seti passes through deep gorges with mountain views and white sandy beaches. The warm water is ideal for learners and the gradually increasing size of rapids lends itself perfectly to our kayak school. This course is for anyone who would like a safe and enjoyable introduction to the sport of kayaking. You may have a little experience, or none at all but as with any active sport, a reasonable level of general fitness will enable more rapid and enjoyable progress.
Day 1: Leaving at 7am, we travel direct to the Seti River to begin the course with an introduction to kayaking in a safe calm environment, out on the slow flowing and large pools of the Seti River near Damauli. The day will include safety demonstrations and learning paddle techniques, balancing and steering kayaks, and an introduction to assisted and eskimo rolls.
Day 2: Today we refresh your new knowledge before putting you in control of the kayak to test your skills. As we paddle gently down stream through gentle grade 1 and -2 rapids, there will be plenty of opportunity to hone your balancing and steering skills, all under the watchful guidance of our experienced instructors. At the lunch stop you will learn some basic swift water rescue skills to add to your safety knowledge. As we continue to travel down river the guides will help you to understand how the river flows and how to read the water and understand currents.
Day 3: We paddle down river encountering gentle rapids to gain more experience in the river environment. After lunch we have a focused skills session in the safe environment of a quiet river eddie.
Day 4: Time to hit the rapids! Using all your new skills we will run the river’s more challenging rapids, encountering some bigger waves and longer rapid systems. Your Instructors will be with you at all times to demonstrate correct lines and to help you increase your skill and confidence levels.

Notes
1) When choosing your clothes for the trip/expedition, please try to be sensitive of local culture. Many of our river journeys go through remote areas where local hill people traditionally dress conservatively. If you dress in short or tight clothes you may cause offense and you will almost certainly gather a crowd of interested followers!
2) The river can sometimes be a very bright place as the sun is intensified by the altitude and by reflections off the water. Even those whose skin naturally tans can burn very quickly. We recommend that you take a high factor sun cream.
3) We remove all our rubbish from our campsites and lunch spots so that we leave the beaches as beautiful as we find them. Please try not to bring anything with unnecessary packaging as this makes the job of clearing our rubbish much harder.
